What is Vaulting?

Vaulting is a growing sport in Ontario. It combines the agility of gymnastics, the creativity of dance, balance, rhythm and harmony of horse back riding. All vaulters start out by learning FUNdamental moves called compulsories. Free style moves and routines are created by each individual, pair or team and preformed to music. All moves are performed on the horse at varying gaits walk, trot or canter, while being lunged by a horse handler, going in large circles for their vaulter(s).

All our vaulters first learn on vaulting barrels, including our mechanical canter barrels, then with one of our experienced horses. Vaulting requires no previous riding or horse experience and is a great way to learn how to ride without having to control your own horse. It teaches excellent balance and rhythm for all ages and levels of equestrian.

Vaulting will help develop and improve your independent seat, proper rider position; ear, shoulder, hip, and heel alignment, back is straight, chest up and eyes forward. It can be a great advantage when used as cross-training for a rider. Compulsories, free style moves, warm ups, and fitness training all build a riders core strength. It also teaches a rider to be able to recover from losing their balance. Learning how to fall safely or dismount the horse in motion will build confidence.

Clinics

Come out to one of vaulting clinics for a hands on experience. All our clinics are designed for all ages. We teach a variety of ground exercises, skills and drills, vaulting barrel training and of course vaulting on our awesome horses. *Follow our facebook page for upcoming clinics - under events

Interested in hosting a Clinic? We also travel, if you or your barn wishes to host a vaulting clinic please contact us. We bring all the equipment to you! A typical clinic will start with a brief intro, warm up, basic fall safety, and quickly move into smaller more hands on group stations.
